This is the home page the course AATM 320: Atmospheric Thermodynamics.

This is a required sophomore-level course in the Atmospheric Science BS offered by the Department of Atmospheric & Environmental Sciences at the University at Albany.

The instructor (and author of these pages) is Brian Rose.

The course closely follows the book A First Course in Atmospheric Thermodynamics by Grant W. Petty, Sundog Publishing, 2008. Material on this site is meant to serve as companion material to our lectures and readings from Petty’s book.

The syllabus, class schedule, and assignments are all managed through Brightspace as of Spring 2026.
